Book Drop

For your convenience, a bookdrop is located at the main entrance of the library.

Membership

All residents of Milam County may be members of the library at no cost for the first card. Replacement cards will be $5.00.

Identification Required: You must provide your driver's license or State issued ID number, Social Security number and your current address.

Children must be 7 years old to receive their own library card. They may use their parent's driver's license or State issued ID but must have their own Social Security number. Parents are responsible for their children's obligations up to age 18.

Your library card will be mailed to the address provided so plan ahead.

Check Out Procedures

You must have your library Card with you to check out books.

You may check out up to:

3 hard-backed books for up to 2 weeks,
3 magazines at for up to 1 week,
3 video cassettes for up to 3 days,
3 audio cassettes for up to 1 week.

Books may be renewed one time in person or over the phone for another 2 week period.

Paperback books may be signed out and kept until read.

Some materials are only allowed out for 3 days, some for just overnight.

ILL Service: We can request material for you from other libraries, including magazine articles which we do not have. Allow about 2 weeks for delivery. You must pay the return postage for the material. (There is usually no charge for magazine articles).

Fines

Book fines are 10¢/day per book.

Video and audio cassette fines are $1/day.

Special material fines are 25¢/day.

Fines for ILL materials are set by lending library.

If books are not returned within 30 days of the due date, an automatic theft charge is filed in Municipal Court.

Summer Reading Program

To encourage school age children to continue reading during the summer we have a summer reading program for students up to the 5th grade.

Smiles are provided by Linda Grothe, Assistant Librarian and Maurina Corley, Librarian.
