The signs indicating that this is "Public Hunting Lands" is left over from 2000 when the land was leased by the State of Texas for dove hunting. An valid hunting license and Annual Public Hunting (APH) permit is required from the State to allow hunting. There were four additional areas leased during the 2000 season for APH permit holders. There is no assurance this or the other areas will be leased for any given season; it is up to the land owner. When you purchase the APH permit ($40) you will receive a map of lands available for that season. The lands available for the 2001 - 2002 season will be know in June 2001.
