Portal ... the portal software
solution...
Community
interaction on your intranet, extranet or Internet!
Modules:
The software provides for
the creation and maintenance of databases that contain commonly used
data served on community and business sites. The database information
may be pulled into the default display templates or included in
templates designed specifically for the site. Modules that can
be used currently include:
Ř Calendars – Out of the box,
calendars are provided for events, birthdays and vacations.
Calendar events can be scheduled for a given time slot or all day on a
specific day or range of dates. Events may also recur on a weekly,
monthly or annual basis. Module administrators may control who will be
able to add or edit events and may also require approval of events
before posting to the calendar. Standard calendars may be deleted or
additional ones created by the administrators.
Ř Events – Calendar events
for a defined period of time may be displayed as a list.
Depending on the number of events defined in the calendar, the module
administrator may show events for the current day, the next week, two
weeks, three weeks, four weeks or the current month.
Ř People – cc_Portal provides
for storage of information on people. People are segregated into those
inside the portal’s organization and those outside. The type of
information presented for each type may be the same or set up
differently. Rights may be granted to either group of people. Lists of
people from each group may be brought up and details on a particular
person can be displayed. The type of information displayed on people is
under the control of the module administrator.
Ř Groups – cc_Portal allows
for easy assignment of people to groups. Predefined groups, such as SysAdmin
and ADMIN, are frequently used in the granting of
authorizations. An individual user may be a member of any number of
groups.
Ř Bulletin Board – Messages
can be posted to the bulletin board. The module administrator
can define who is authorized to post messages or allow them to be posted
by any visitor. Posted messages may be displayed immediately or sent for
posting authorization to an administrator for approval prior to posting.
Bulletin board messages can be allowed to remain posted until deleted or
a time limit may be set that will delete messages older than a stated
period of time.
Ř Messaging – cc_Portal
provides for the sending of ‘instant messages’ to all visitors,
members of a particular group or to specific individuals. A user may
specify the people to which they frequently send messages in their own
‘friends’ list. Messages can be allowed to remain available until
cleared by the addressee or a time limit may be set that will delete
messages older than a stated period of time.
Ř Images – cc_Portal allows
users to post images (pictures). The module administrator
can control who is allowed to upload images. Each picture can have its
own title and description text. The module administrator can control the
size of the images displayed. When the image is displayed,
the visitor can click the image to display a larger version of the image
in a separate browser window. The module administrator can also control
the size of this large image display.
Ř Posting –
Information stored on people can be automatically examined and reports on significant events
contained in the data produced. This may be birthdays, wedding anniversaries, or
other similar data based on dates. The module administrator can control
they type of information displayed in the Posting module.
Ř Banners –
The banner
database enables the module administrator to define groups of banners,
typically grouped by size of banner and intended audience. These banners
may then be rotated randomly on any of the template pages. Both the
display and clicking of banners can be logged.
Ř Weather –
A local weather page that can use the visitor’s zip code to
define the location shown. Many weather sites exist that will serve up
local weather information and the module administrator specifies the one
to be used.
Ř
Links –A list of links to sites of interest to the user
community.
Links can be grouped by type of information that they contain, making it
easy for the visitor to identify those of interest. The module
administrator can add or remove groups and individual links as needed.
Ř Document Sharing –
Extensive document sharing capabilities. Shared
documents may be HTML files (web pages), Microsoft Word documents,
Microsoft Excel documents, Adobe PDF files or any other type of file
that can be understood by software installed on the visitor’s
computer. The module administrator determines who is permitted to upload
and access documents. Permissions may be set for access to all documents
or for each individual document as appropriate, given the type of
information being shared.
